Hogs continue roll in 3-hit shutout of Knights, win streak at 5

In what so far is being billed as “the most important series ever between last-place teams”, Rich Harden took the mound for the Knights against his former team, the Hogs. He forgot to bring his game, though, as he gave up 4 runs and didn’t last through the 5th inning. Cano and Beltran each homered in the first couple innings against him. Meanwhile, on the mound for the other guys, Gorzellany or whatever his name is was smokin’. He had a no-hitter into the 6th inning. The Knight relievers came in and did well for Bri and kept the Hogs from padding that lead, but the Knight batters could not get untracked against Gorzo and the Hog relievers. End result: 5-0 Smithfield

HOGS sweep Crows, might be back in the hunt

This game aint so bad after all…

Game 1,
Contreras solid for the Crows after WP allows run scored in 1st.
Clemens solid for Hogs after allowing leadoff HR to Tejada.
No more scoring til 7th, when Mauer goes deep.
Hogs take that 2-1 lead into the top of the 9th.
Bottom 9, with 2 outs and an 0-2 count, Crow Markakis (who?) hits a game-tying RBI double.
1-2-3 top 10th
1-2-3 bottom 10th
Top 11 – Hogs batting, Duncan and RBI single, Rollins races home and beats throw. Then Rolen RBI single, Beltran beats throw home.
Carrasco – Hog reliever gets 1-2-3 11th for 2nd save.
FYI – Ted’s a sucker. Bradford, recently acquired in trade with Brian, ridiculously gets the win after blowing the save on said Markakis hit. ERA now 12.51 with me.
4-2 Hogs in 11

Game 2,
Crows manage only 6 hits in the game, although 3 of them are HR’s, 2 by Bay.
Back and forth affair: Dye RBI triple in 1st, Crows tie on Cuddyer HR.
Thomer solo HR in 6th, Crows tie on Bay HR.
Finally Hogs score without getting tied with Rolen’s GWRBI single in 7th.
In 9th, Rollins steals home on double steal for insurance run in 9th.
Gonzalez comes on late for 3rd save of year for Hogs; Bay hits meaningless HR.
5-3 Hogs.

Game 3,
Carrasco starts for Hogs, pitches like a man possessed. 7 IP, 3 hits, 0 ER.
Bedard starts for Crows, he’s mediocre. Later Sanchez relieves him, he’s awful.
Game turns into a rout in 9th as Hogs go wild, highlighted by Duncan PH 3-run HR.
Baker gets 3 hits, a 2B and HR in the game.
9-1 Hogs.

Hogs get 1st sweep! They’ve won 4 in a row! Hogs outscore Crows 18-6 in series and hold Crows to only 16 hits. Now only 2 games out of playoffs with 12 to play, and 3 each against the two teams they need to overtake. Feeling groovy.

Hogs implode over and over; lose 2 of 3 to Foxes

I don’t fight it anymore. I know I’m not good.

Game 1 –

I kick Fox starter Bonderman where it counts – Beltran homers, Rolen beats the ball hard on his way to a 4-hit game, speedster Thome triples…it all feels good in building up a 9-5 lead through 6…

7th inning – The first 10 Foxes reach base in the inning, and they score EIGHT runs on only TWO hits (both singles) in that 7th. The Foxes get six walks, two hit batters, and utilize two Hogs errors in the inning. New Hog Bradford and old Hog Feliciano to blame. For the game, Hogs give up 13 hits, 11 walks, 2 HBP, and 4 errors. Hard to overcome that level of futility. 13-10 Foxes.

Game 2 – I keep it close again, it’s tied going into the 6th, but a Pudge 3-run homer hurts bad. My 3-run homer by Beltran in the 9th is just window dressing. The killed me again. I’m now 0-5 against these guys this year. If the Foxes didn’t exist, I’m nearly .500 and in the playoff hunt. They must be MAD about that 2015 World Series. 9-6 Foxes.

Game 3 – Pedro on the mound in a Hog uniform trying to show the world Ted’s not an idiot. He walks the first batter and gives up a homer to the 2nd (lightweight Jeter). Suck. But he nuts up and starts pitching really well and his batters charge back for a 4-2 lead. In the 5th, Wright hits another 2 run jack off him, game TIED. He allows one more in the 6th and gets pulled down 5-4 (Actually, this is a good start for a Smithfield starter. I’m elated). The game turns gnarley in the 8th, where I pull off a double steal on a botched hit and run even though IROD’s Ex arm is behind the plate. It pays off like a mother as I score both of them on a fielder’s choice grounder (they can’t get Rollins at home even with the infield in) and then a sac fly by Cano. My stopper Gonzalez closes out the 9th with only his 2nd save of the year (pffft). But I get the win, and I will take what I can freakin’ get at this point. 6-5 Hogs.

If I can win the last 15 games I’ll finish 26-16 and be in serious contention for the title.
