Knights Sweep Sausage

The Knights’ comeback season continued this week with the sweep of the Fighting Sausage. It was all offense for the Knights with wins of 8-5 and 6-4. Wow. I just got really tired so I’m going to add a picture of Prince’s blast in game 2 and a link to his career stats.
How the Hairys got to be 0-4

For the good of the league, with so few games played so far, I’m sure you could use an old fashioned article about the Sausage’s sweep of the Hairys.
Game 1 – Hanson going for Gary, Pineiro for Smithfield. The Sausage come back from a 5-3 deficit to win 7-5, thanks to a ManRam 2-run homer in the 5th to tie it, and a go-ahead 2-run triple by pinch hitter Torres in the 6th. Hairy Sandoval flew out to end the game as the tying run at the plate in the 9th. Pineiro gets the win, going 7.2 innings, and Hoffman the save. For Gary, Garrett Jones had 3 hits.
In game 2, otherwise known as the nut-crusher, Jerry started Rowland-Smith and Ted started Wolf. Neither made it past the 5th inning. The Hairys were up 4-0 in the 4th, but didn’t score again, losing in 11 innings. Somehow Wolf didn’t lose, although he had 110 pitches in 4.2 innings. Hairys pitchers gave up no walks in 11-inning game; amazing. The Sausage bullpen used 5 pitchers, and they pitched 6.1 scoreless innings, allowing only 3 hits. Sausageman Uribe had an RBI single to win the thing in a walkoff, scoring Raburn, who got his 4th hit of the night, an infield single, to lead off the inning. 5-4 Sausage.

Hairys Lose Fifth Straight to Start Season
Posted by Jerry Ockey on Aug 22, 2010 in Game Reports | 2 comments
After losing their fifth straight game to start the season, Pablo Sandoval and Manager Ockey are wondering what in the crap they need to do to win a game this year. The Hairys have played 5 games. They have held a lead in each of the 5 games and in one game on two separate occasions. Every single one of those leads was lost in increasingly heartbreaking fashion. Three of the Hairys’ five games have gone extra innings. They have lost all three, two in walk-off fashion. In game one against the Foxes, Pablo Sandoval got his Kung-Fu grip on in a BIG way – he was 4 for his first 4 with 3 bombs and 6 RBI’s. I mean really – he was ill. Unfortunately, Hairy starter Gallardo was making his coach ill. He gave up 7 hits in 4 innings, 5 of which were for extra bases.
Ockey had enough of that crap, so he put in lefty Happ to face the weak vs lefties part of the Fox order. So, naturally, Happ gives up back to back bombs to the first two batters he faced. Happ has now given up 4 bombs in 4 innings pitched. That is not very good. Nevertheless, Sandoval and Cabrera bombs gave the Hairys a two run lead entering the 9th. In comes Hairy closer Huston Street who is notoriously horrible in PTP. And voila, HE give up back to back homers. Game tied. Youkilis kicks a grounder in the 11th to lose the game. Game over. I give up.
Post CommentRedesign Launched – Season Ignited?

Fair-weather manager and sometimes-commissioner B. Utley decided to kick my web server’s ass with a redesign and opted for a more simple, streamlined approach to the chronicling of the 2026 season that thus far has gone off like a limp wiener circa ’87. He’s hoping the site will rebound like a ’97 wiener and the season will gain momentum.
